On the whiteboard, Shireen writes out a paragraph - either her own or from a book - with incorrect punctuation and grammar. Some will also have some spelling mistakes, and one or two sentences will have grammatically incorrect word order. Next, the students will copy as it is onto their journal notebook and use their red pencil to make some corrections. Is it correct to say, "I will go school because today Monday."? This method is called, "Correction Exercises." It allows students to learn how to proofread and edit sentences or paragraphs, and this skill will help them become better writers overtime. We will be continuing to do this exercise throughout the year.

Also, this week's theme is on cursive handwriting. We're compiling a cursive writing book whilst practicing the first half of the alphabet letters during class. They'll be able to take this book home to do handwriting practice at their own pace and have some fun spelling out words (and their name!).
