Field Trip

Today, our students from NWIS enjoyed a field trip to the Aquarium. We visited, specifically, the newly renovated Sunshine Aquarium in Ikebukuro!
It was our first time to see the new penguin enclosure, where you can step under and watch the penguins swim over your head! It was a beautiful three dimensional sight, where you couldn't resist reaching up to touch the flightless birds as they swam by or stopped by to look down at you... but a barrier of glass broke the illusion that you were there with them!

The seals came out and provided a great show of balancing prowess with canes and bouncy balls while the children enjoyed their time immensely, as they saw the many beautiful species of fish they have heard or read about in class swim inches from their faces! Pulsing jellyfish, graceful manta rays, and shy eels were met with the children's fascinated smiles, illuminated by the hues of the deep oceans and tropical seas...

... But don't tap that glass children!
