K3 Class Update

Hello K3 parents,

We have decided to use the school blog to share what’s happening in our classrooms. We hope you find this helpful!

1. We learned why leaves change colors in autumn. The simplest explanation for this is that leaves don’t get enough sun light during autumn, so the green color starts to fade away and new color such as red or yellow appears. Ask your child why leaves change colors. They will probably say “Because it’s not sunny outside.” As an activity, we had the students use a coin to scratch the green color to reveal the new color. We hope this activity helped them understand the concept better!
2. We read Up on Top by Dr. Seuss and practiced counting and tracing numbers 1-10. We also talked about harvesting in autumn.
3. At the park, we collected leaves for our activity. Many of the students noticed how the leaves on the trees were changing colors. They kept telling us “Look, leaves are changing colors!!” We hope they will continue to notice the changes in this season.
4. We used autumn leaves as stamps and decorated our paper lanterns. The students enjoyed using different shaped leaves and mixing autumn colors.
